Highlighting Assistant

Applying highlighting

Open the highlighting wizard by clicking on the dropdown black arrow next to the button of a highlighter: .

Highlighting will be applied to all terms entered in search page. Terms linked with an operator in your search query will be separated by a comma in the wizard.

They will be so highlighted everywhere where they appear in the text, not just when they are juxtaposed in the expression and/or in the fields searched.

If you have not used an operator in your query to connect two terms, these will be only highlighted when they appear in the text juxtaposed in the order specified in your query.

At the top of the wizard you will see your search terms defined as a profile named: Current.

Six highlight colors are available to apply to terms in your results. Applying additional highlighting does not create a new search on the newly highlighted terms, it only applies the new highlighting to the existing results.

All forms of truncation may be used,

      + : Unlimited

      ? : 0 or 1 character

      # : Exactly 1 character

You can use multiple truncation within a single word (different truncation or the same one repeated).

Only OR, W and D operators are supported and work for words that are inside the same sentence (proximity operators, see annexes).

Words are separated by a space or a comma, by default after a search. You can change this with:

      words separated by a space are highlighted only when the set phrase is found;

words separated with a comma will be highlighted when they are isolated or in a phrase (equivalent of the OR operator)

A mouse-over window displays the highlighted words and the corresponding color.

Clear erases all of the highlighted selections and profiles.

Apply applies the highlight and keep the assistant.

OK closes the assistant and Save the current profile in a Saved Profile if you had changed the “Current” name.

Close closes the assistant without applying highlight.

Highlighting profiles

The highlighting profiles put in place can be saved. First, change the name “current” in the text box on the top of the wizard, then enter your future profile name, and click on OK to apply & save the profile with this name.

The profile saved in this way can be requested when viewing other hitlists. To do so, you need to expand the list of profiles with the down arrow close to the profile name box.

The Clear button clears the keywords defined in the profile. If you click just after on OK, that will wipe all the words of the profile and save these changes.

The   button deletes the list's profile.

Conserving highlighting

It is possible to keep the highlight defined in the wizard for subsequent searches. To do so, the box must be checked. The OK button confirms the preservation of the highlighting.

When the highlighting is kept for the session, highlighting is no longer available in the general search assistant: "persistent highlighting is enabled” will be shown.

For subsequent searches, only the terms kept highlighted are colored. To end the persistent highlighting, uncheck the box in the wizard.

Highlighting display

Highlighting is on by default and the highlighting icon in the toolbar will be surrounded in orange . Highlighted terms are visible in the hitlist and in the tabs. Highlighting creates a hyperlinked path for all occurrences in the text. This trace of the terms highlighted appears in the gray vertical bar on the right of the tabs.

Each indent color represents the occurrence of a term in the displayed text. Click on a colored marker to reach this occurrence in the text.

To remove highlighting, click on the highlighter icon : bubble overview shows hide occurrences and the button becomes neutral. The searched terms will remain highlighted by the system in the form of black, bolded text.
