Patent sequence databases are constructed by Questel. There are at the moment two patent databases, FAMPAT nucleotides and FAMPAT proteins.
We collect sequences from public databases (EMBL,Genbank, DDBJ), from sequence listings directly from some authorities and we manually curate patents with embedded sequences.
Claims are parsed to find claimed sequences and identical sequences are handled to produce non-redundant databases.
