Command (Cmd) line searching

Searching in expert mode

The Show cmd. line button opens the command line. Two features are possible:

Write your command directly in scripting language: The command line is used to write your searches in expert mode using search scripts. You will need to use truncation and operators.

The searchable fields and corresponding codes are indicated in the factsheets for FamPat, Fullpat, and each of the fulltext collections.  To specify a field, enter a slash (/) followed by the field code after the search terms, except for fields that require numerical operators.

Example: To search French applicants, enter COUNTRY /PAAD=FR.

It is possible to use the field presence function: PRES.

Example: To search all families that have a case: US CID=PRES.

Add input lines to the search: After adding input lines, you can convert this query into a script. Everything indicated in the input lines is now in script form. You can also add new search fields. It is also possible to edit the AND linking two input lines and replace it with an OR or NOT.

The ..LIM command is a command to be used only in the command line (search or history). It is used to create a search sub-base.

Examples: With the command ..LIM 2014-45/UAB, you are creating a search sub-base that will contain only families that have a UAB code for the week 2014-45.

All of the scripts that follow a LIM command will apply only to families resulting from the limitation. The following icon will be shown in the hitlist:  indicating that the results come from a limitation. In the search history, the scripts will be in red.

The command ..LIM ALL is used to cancel the stated limit and return to the full collection.

The operator SDOC is an operator that is used to search for information not included in invention families, but among individual members, while remaining in FamPat. SDOC is used only in the command line.

The FamPat collection is formed of four sub-bases: a bibliographic sub-base (title, abstract, names, classifications, dates etc…), a key content sub-base (object of invention, advantages over prior art drawbacks, independent claims), a fulltext sub-base (claims and description) and a legal status sub-base. SDOC does not work between sub-bases. It must be used to search for information within a single sub-base.

Examples: The command EPB?/PN SDOC 2014 returns EP patents issued in 2014. The search fungus/TI SDOC pathogen/OBJ will not succeed: Two pieces of information from two different sub-bases are being searched for with SDOC.

It is possible to filter based on a relevance score obtained after a similarity search. After a similarity search, it is possible to display only families with over X% similarity.

Example: US5000000/PN then SIM SS 1 TOP 99 (question 1 is the publication # search, where you can launch the similarity search) and TOP 99 for families with over 99% similarity (from 99 to 100%).

All of the search criteria indicated in the command line will be highlighted in yellow.

The Search button included in the command line launches the search. When the search criteria are indicated in the command line, it is not possible to enter them in the search box.

The X button closes the command line.

To delete the contents of the command line, use the Clear button found above the command line.
